Blur image online

Load a screenshot, drag across whatever should not be public, and blur, pixelate or black out that area. Everything happens in this browser tab, so nothing you open is uploaded.

PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF. Nothing leaves this browser tab.

This runs in your browser. Nothing you paste or open is sent to us.

How to blur part of a screenshot

Open the screenshot, drag a rectangle over the part that should not be public, and download the result. It is the quickest way to redact a screenshot before attaching it to a bug report, a support ticket or a public issue, and the mask is burned into the pixels of the file you download, so the hidden area cannot be recovered from it.

Blur, pixelate or black out?

Blur softens the area until nothing is legible while keeping the shape of the page. Pixelate does the same with visible blocks, which reads more obviously as deliberate. Black out replaces the area with solid black and leaves no doubt at all. Use black out for anything that must never be guessed, such as a token or a card number, and blur or pixelate when you only want to keep a name or an address out of the picture.

Questions about blurring images

No. The image is opened by this page and drawn on a canvas in your browser. It is never sent to our servers, and the page makes no network request while you work.

No. The download is a flat PNG, and the blurred, pixelated or blacked out pixels replace the original ones before the file is written. There is no overlay to peel off and no hidden layer underneath.

PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF go in, up to 4096 by 4096 pixels. The download is always a PNG at the original image's full resolution, so nothing is scaled down.

No. The file is re-encoded from the canvas, which drops the EXIF block a camera or a phone wrote, including any location it held.

Report the bug, not just the screenshot

Session Replay captures the screen, the console, the network log and the browser details in one link, so you spend less time explaining and more time fixing.
